Liverpool are on the verge of completing their fifth signing of the season, after agreeing a £20m deal for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.
The 25-year-old defender was a prime summer target of Liverpool and now BBC & Liverpool Echo journalists both have confirmed that the Reds have finally got their man. The Croatia international, who joined the Saints last season, will undergo a medical tomorrow, before completing his move to Merseyside.
Liverpool are also thought to be closing in on two other deals as well. They have already agreed a deal for Loic Remy, who has passed his medical yesterday and likewise a deal for Divock Origi is also on the verge of completion. According to Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce, Liverpool will announce the deal for Remy in the next few days (held up due to some paper works) while Origi is currently in Boston to complete his medical.
Lovren will become the third Southampton player to have joined Liverpool this summer, following the arrivals of Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert. Liverpool are also trying to sign a full-back and have been linked with Atletico Madrid defender Manquillo recently.
Lovren would be a quality signing for the Reds but at the same time his arrival would cast a doubt on the long term future of vice-captain Daniel Agger.
