Manchester United Miss Out On Big-Money Serie A Player

May 1, 2025 4:31 PM

Manchester United have missed out an a major signing from the Italian Serie A. He’s South American and a midfielder. But you Red Devils can breathe a slight sigh of relief – he’s not Arturo Vidal. The player being talked about is Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer. United recently submitted a €40 million bid for him.

Louis Van Gaal was said to be keen on signing the Colombian, and faced stiff competition from Barcelona, who were said to have Cuadrado on top of their wish-list. But it has now reported by Football Italia that the World Cup star will be staying at Fiorentina. The Italian side’s manager Andrea Della Valle has said in an interview to reporters that Cuadrado will be going nowhere this summer, despite so many rumours linking him to a bigger club.

“I can say with certainty Cuadrado is staying,” he said.

“It’s a big present for the city. I hope it’s the strongest Viola of the Della Valle era.”

United now have to go all guns blazing for Juventus midfielder Vidal to strengthen their midfield, which clearly remains their weakest link. With a deal for Javier Hernandez to the Old Lady more or less complete, the Red Devils may try to use this transfer as a means to land the Chilean midfielder maestro.
